Luckiest suburbs revealed ahead of huge $60m Powerball draw

The luckiest spots to snag a winning lotto ticket have been revealed ahead of the $60 million Powerball draw on Thursday.

Entries for draw 1419 will close at 7.25pm AEST and the winning numbers will be revealed an hour later here.

One in six Australians are expected to have a ticket in Thursday’s Powerball draw, and they’ll have a crack at the second-largest lottery prize offered this year so far.

A total of 303 millionaires were created by division one wins in the last financial year, “almost one a day,” The Lott said, revealing exactly where those winning tickets were purchased.

In Victoria, which had 137 division one wins last financial year, the highest number of wins in Australia, six postcodes proved the luckiest.

Springvale South and Dingley Village (3172), Endeavour Hills (3802), Doreen and Mernda (3754), Wyndham (3024), Lalor (3075) and Melbourne (3000) all had three division one wins each.

In NSW and the ACT, which cumulatively secured 130 division one wins last financial year, Berala and Lidcombe (2141), and Dapto (2530) each had three division one winning entries.

Queensland took home 109 division one wins, most commonly in Nerang and Pacific Pines (4211) with four wins and Morayfield (4506) with four wins.

Western Australia took home 80 division one wins, five of which were sold in Kalgoorlie (6430).

South Australia had 31 wins, with two of the division one entries purchased in Gawler (5118), and two in Oaklands Park (5045).

In Tasmania, which had 12 division one wins, two were won in Howrah and Rosny Park (7018) and two in Sorell (7172).

In the top-end, Northern Territory entrants had four division one wins, the biggest of which was in Yarrawonga (0830).

How entrants for the upcoming draw choose to use that information varies, The Lott Spokesperson Matt Hart said.

“Some players tell us they deliberately pick outlets that have recently sold a major lottery prize in the hope of continuing the winning streak, while other players choose different outlets, believing lightning won’t strike twice,” he said.

“While we saw pockets of major lottery prizes across Australian states and territories last financial year, it’s important to remember that a division one win can land anywhere at any time.

“It will also be interesting to see if last financial year’s lottery hotspots continue their winning run.”
