With Thursday night’s mega $60 million Powerball draw quickly approaching, you may be wondering how long the lucky winner — if there is one — will need to wait before they can get their hands on their prize.

According to officials from The Lott, if someone scores a division one win in the draw, they will only have to wait two weeks until they can start enjoying their newfound fortune.

“There would be no better way to end the final months of 2023 (than) with a division one win in the bank on October 19 — it would undoubtedly set the family up for a magical Christmas season,” spokesperson Anna Hobdell said.

This week’s draw offers the second-biggest jackpot by any lottery game so far this year, with the potential prize money skyrocketing to $60 million after there were no division one Powerball winners in the past four draws.

According to The Lott, up to one-in-six Australian adults are expected to purchase an entry into the draw.

The most frequently drawn Powerball numbers from the main barrel include 17, 7, 9, 3 and 28 while the most popular numbers from the separate Powerball barrel include 2 and 19.

On the flip side, some of the numbers to avoid from the main barrel are 31, 33, 34, 15 and 1, plus the Powerball numbers of 14 and 16.

Hobdell urged players to register their entries to a player card or online account so that they can be easily contacted should they win the life-changing prize.

“We’ll be ready to make any life-changing phone calls to registered division one winners on Thursday night — so if you do see your phone light up, answer it immediately,” she said.

“As this is the biggest offer of any Australian lottery game at the moment, we’re expecting it to be busy in-store and online leading up to Thursday night’s draw.

“My best advice for anyone wanting the chance to win Powerball this week is to ensure you have an entry in your hands before the draw closes at 7.30pm AEST on Thursday night.”

There have been 12 Powerball division one winners so far this year. In total, they have collectively taken home more than $394 million in prize money.

Six of the 12 are from NSW, with the biggest winner being a man from Western Sydney who scored $100 million in June.

The winning numbers for Powerball draw 1429 will be posted on The Lott’s website on Thursday night.
